North spare parts at Kitemana
A North kite, board or bar can last for years if you take good care of it. Most maintenance starts with a simple inspection. Check your valves, bridle, footstraps, lines and safety system every few sessions. This helps you spot wear before it causes problems on the water. To find the right part, you need three things: the model, size and year. You’ll find these on the label of your kite, board or bar. Pay extra attention with older North kites. Up to and including 2018, North Kiteboarding was the brand behind the Evo, Rebel, Neo, Dice and Trust bar. From 2019 onwards, these models continued under Duotone, while North started again as a separate brand with its own kites, boards and bars. If you have a North product from before 2019, you’ll usually find the right spare parts at Duotone. Below, we explain what to look out for with each part, what you can replace yourself and when it’s better to leave the job to a specialist.

North spare parts for your kite
Most problems with a kite occur in the air system. The valves take the most abuse. Sand, salt water and pumping up your kite before every session all cause wear on the threads and seals. If your kite slowly loses pressure, start by finding the cause. Pump it up, leave it for an hour and check the valve with a little soapy water. If you see bubbles around the valve, a new valve or seal is often all you need. If the kite loses air while the valve is closed, the leak is usually in the bladder. You can repair a small hole with a bladder repair kit. If the bladder is worn or torn, it’s better to replace it. A useful tip when replacing your bladder: tie a thin piece of string to the old bladder before pulling it out. You can then use the string to guide the new bladder neatly back into place. Bladders differ depending on the model, size and year, so always check the specifications of your North kite before ordering. If your kite has a one-pump system, also check the hoses and clamps between the leading edge and struts. A loose clamp can cause pressure loss too.
Next up is the bridle. A pulley that no longer runs smoothly or has a damaged edge will wear down your bridle line and make your kite turn more slowly. Replace pulleys and individual bridle lines in time, and check your bridle for knots after a crash. For canopy damage, a small tear can temporarily be covered with ripstop tape. Larger damage, a loose seam or a leak in the leading edge is best repaired by our kite repair service. Prevent wear where you can. Don’t pump your kite harder than North recommends for your model, use a kite pump with a pressure gauge and don’t leave an inflated kite in direct sunlight or inside a hot car. Expanding air puts extra pressure on the bladders and seams. You’ll find everything you need among our North kite spare parts. Has your kite reached the end of its life after years of great sessions? North spare parts for your kiteboard
On a North kiteboard, it’s usually the smaller parts that get lost or wear out: screws, washers, fins and grab handles. The good news is that almost everything can be replaced separately. North twintips usually use M6 screws for the pads and straps. Always use the washers, as they spread the pressure across the insert and help prevent your bindings from coming loose after a hard landing. Tighten the screws securely, but don’t overtighten them. A stripped insert is much harder to repair than a loose screw.
Before every session, check that your bindings and fins are still securely attached, especially after landing on the beach or hitting a rock. Rinse your board and screws with fresh water after a saltwater session. This prevents sand and salt from causing the threads to seize. Always replace a screw with one of the same length. A screw that is too long can damage the insert or your board. If your pads are worn flat or your straps are starting to tear, a complete set of straps and pads is often a better choice than replacing individual parts.
A kite surfboard or foilboard uses different screw systems, such as specific inserts and self-tapping screws, and often has its own fin system. On your foil, the mast, fuselage and wings are connected using specific screws. Pay extra attention to the length and thread. Regularly take your North Sonar foil apart after saltwater sessions and rinse the screws and contact surfaces with fresh water. This helps prevent corrosion and parts from seizing. You’ll find the parts you need among our foil accessories.
Not sure which part or size you need? Send us the model and year of your board and we’ll help you find the right one. You’ll find everything among our North kiteboard spare parts. Prefer not to work on your board yourself? Our repair service can check and assemble your board, so everything is secure and ready for your next session.
North spare parts for your kite bar
Your bar is the connection between you and your North kite, so you don’t want any surprises here. Start with the lines. Dyneema kite lines are strong and have very little stretch, but a damaged spot, a knot or wear caused by sand can quickly reduce their breaking strength. Check them regularly, especially around the ends and where the lines run through the bar. Is your kite pulling to one side or turning more slowly than you’re used to? Your lines may have stretched unevenly. Lay them out on the beach, attach them to a fixed point and pull them tight. This makes it easy to see whether the lengths still match. Readjusting them can sometimes solve the problem, but after intensive use, a new line set is the safest choice. North line sets are 22 metres as standard. Next, check the pigtails. These connect your lines to the kite and handle a lot of load. Always choose pigtails that match your bar and replace them as soon as they start to fray. The depower line moves through the centre of your bar every time you trim and therefore wears faster than you might expect. If your trim starts to feel stiff or the line begins to fray near the cleat, you’ll notice it directly in the bar pressure and handling. Your safety system deserves the most attention. Test your quick release regularly on land, rinse it with fresh water after every session and replace the chicken loop or release mechanism as soon as it starts to feel stiff. The swivel, which helps prevent your lines from twisting, and the floaters should also be part of your regular checks, along with your kite leash.
You’ll find everything you need among our North bar spare parts. Still using a Trust bar from before 2019? You’ll find spare parts for these bars at Duotone.
