The Prolimit Mercury 5/4 C-Zip Frontzip 2027 Wetsuit is the newest addition to the Mercury series and easily the most eye-catching one. The C-Zip is a chest zip that you pull on over your head and that closes low across your chest. That way Prolimit keeps your shoulders and upper back completely free of zipper, which you feel the moment you steer your kite or pull yourself back onto your board after a crash. With 5/4mm NaturePrene2 you kite through autumn in comfort and head into winter without complaining.
On the Mercury the warmth comes from the Thermal Rebound2 lining. Between the NaturePrene2 and the Zodiac2 inner lining sits an extra layer that bounces your body heat back at you instead of letting it escape. That technology goes back to the silver rescue blankets NASA developed in the seventies for manned space missions. On the water you notice it most at the end of a long session: you cool down slower and keep moving freely for longer.
On the outside Prolimit combines the Neolight heather 550+ fabric with the new Quad Flex outer lining. Quad Flex stretches in every direction, while the woven grid structure adds strength in the spots that take the most abuse. The material holds little water and dries fast, so the windchill on a windy winter day is a lot more bearable. Inside sits the Zodiac2 plush lining: soft, quick drying and easy to pull over your skin when you are still wet from the last session.
The panels are bonded with water-based Aqua Alpha glue and finished using the Fluid Taping Method. Triple glued, blind stitched and sealed on the outside with a wide carbon neoprene tape, so the seams stay stretchy and hardly any water gets through. The knees get the KED construction, which offers protection without you having to bend against the material. You also get a YKK zipper, drainholes at the bottom of the legs and ankle straps that stop your wetsuit from riding up.
