You're on a wave that's moving faster than you'd like and you have to decide exactly where to make your turn. That's the moment this board shows what it's capable of. The Duotone Blur D/LAB 2027 Surfboard is the directional board from the top range of Duotone, designed by Sky Solbach and built for riders who want speed, flow and control in waves ranging from small to well overhead.

It all starts with the rocker line. The refined lean rocker allows the board to plane early and accelerate quickly, making it easy to keep up with a wave that's just starting to break. At the same time, the board tracks smoothly, giving the Blur a predictable feel when you're riding down the line at speed. The round tail is the second key element. This shape keeps the water connected to the tail for longer, which directly translates into grip and drive. You can fully commit to your bottom turn without the tail breaking loose, while smoothly rolling from rail to rail when you want to complete a section in one flowing movement.

This is also exactly where the difference with the Blur D/LAB 2026 can be found. That model had a more pronounced rocker designed primarily for tight turns in the steepest sections. For 2027, the rocker line has been refined, allowing the board to get up to speed faster and maintain more speed through flatter sections of the wave. You hardly sacrifice any turning ability, but it becomes much easier to reach that section further down the line that was just out of reach last year. The rest of the shape carries over, while the 2027 comes in a new colorway.

The D/LAB construction is where the board gets its distinctive feel. On top is a +/- 45° carbon fiber deck that makes the board stiff and incredibly responsive, so every change in pressure from your back foot is transferred instantly. The base uses +/- 45° glass fiber for comfort in chop, combined with a full Innegra base underneath to reduce vibrations and make the board durable when a landing doesn't go quite as planned. The carbon stringer adds longitudinal stiffness for that sporty feel, while the RMF (Reflex Memory Foam) Shock Absorber 3.0 absorbs impacts so your knees can keep going for longer. Compared to the Blur SLS, the main difference is weight and feel: the D/LAB is 20% lighter and therefore responds more sharply. The SLS uses glass fiber, a full Innegra wrap, the new Carbon T-Stringer and Cork Shock Absorber 2.0, giving it a slightly more dampened and forgiving feel while also being considerably friendlier on your budget.

The Blur is available in 5'3", 5'6" and 5'9", allowing you to choose the right size based on your weight and the type of waves you usually ride.
