Affordable shorty for warm sea water from Prolimit
As soon as the sea water creeps towards twenty degrees, your 4/3 suit turns into a sauna. That is exactly why the Prolimit Ace Shorty Freezip 2/2 exists. Short arms, short legs, just enough rubber to keep your core warm and all the freedom of movement you could want. The fact that Prolimit also puts this suit out at an entry-level price makes the choice pretty easy.
The Ace Shorty is made from 2/2mm NaturePrene2, Prolimit's completely neoprene-free rubber that is harvested from FSC-certified rubber trees. You give up nothing in terms of warmth and stretch, as it feels exactly the way you expect a good summer suit to feel. Around your torso the suit keeps your core temperature up, while your arms and legs stay free. Ideal for the warmest August days on the North Sea and for sessions in Greece, Egypt or on Zanzibar.
You get into it via the Freezip, a YKK front zip that opens up completely. You simply step in, and after your session the suit is hanging over your car door within a minute. A front zip also keeps water out better than a zip on your back, so you stay warm even after a crash.
The rubber is Airflex 500+ and 350+, with an Airflex 500+ lining on the inside that gives in every direction. The panels are joined with flatlock seams. Those seams are flat, strong and do not chafe under your harness. They let through slightly more water than glued GBS seams, but in warm water that actually works as pleasant cooling. The gluing is done with water-based glue, so without any solvents.
