This year's biggest upgrade is in the frame. The SLS construction has become stiffer and can therefore be flown at a higher pressure. Sizes up to and including 10m are flown at 9 psi, from 11m upwards it's 8 psi. That extra pressure keeps the leading edge nicely in shape when the wind is strong or gusty. The kite deforms less and responds directly to every steering input as a result.

The shape of the leading edge has been adjusted too. It creates less resistance in the air, while the cleaner canopy profile makes for a smoother airflow. It sounds technical, but on the water you mainly notice one thing: speed. The Rebel flies faster through the wind window, climbs quickly to the edge of it and gives you a powerful, dynamic take-off.

Jumping with the Rebel is as easy as ever. Pull the bar, steer the kite and go. Its familiar 'sheet and go' character means you don't have to time everything perfectly to get seriously high. Once you're up there you get plenty of float and the kite stays easy to control. Exactly what you want for your board offs, rotations and other tricks where a few extra seconds of hangtime never hurt.

The stiffer frame gives you extra confidence during kiteloops as well. The Rebel stays tight through the loop and climbs back up quickly for a controlled catch. The direct bar pressure lets you feel exactly where the kite is. The Penta TX frame with 5 struts keeps the kite stable when the wind really picks up.
