Not everyone needs a super high-end wetsuit to enjoy a good session. Sometimes you just want a suit that keeps you warm, feels comfortable and doesn't swallow your entire gear budget. That's exactly where the Prolimit Ace Steamer Free-X 4/3 comes in. It's one of the strongest value-for-money suits we have hanging in the shop. You get all the standard wetsuit technology from Prolimit, at a very attractive price.
The 4/3mm thickness is the most versatile choice you can make. From spring right through to late autumn you'll be comfortable on the water, and it works nicely on a cool summer evening too. Only in the depths of winter, when the water gets really cold, might it feel a little on the chilly side. If you still want to get out there then, simply add a 5/4, 6/4 or hooded suit to your quiver.
The real standout feature of the Ace is the Free-X zip. It's a regular front zip, but with an asymmetric design. The zip is anchored at one shoulder and opens to one side only. That keeps the opening small and gives water far less chance to get in when you take a hard crash. At the same time, getting in and out is still easy, and the YKK zip doesn't restrict your freedom of movement across the chest and shoulders.
For the construction, Prolimit uses Airflex 500+ and 350+ NaturePrene2. This material is 100% neoprene free and made from bio-based rubber sourced from FSC certified rubber trees, bonded with water-based glue. You don't give up anything in terms of stretch, warmth or durability. The chest and back feature an HR+ lining that holds in your body heat and dries quickly. The panels are triple glued and blind stitched, with the needle only penetrating halfway through the material. That keeps the seams strong and water resistant.
