On the water, you immediately feel what this surfboard was designed for. The hip-squash tail and increased rocker let you turn tightly enough to place your turn exactly in the steepest section, while the fast rocker line and channel bottom accelerate the board as soon as you apply pressure. This allows you to keep generating speed even in short, weak waves. And when you land a trick, that shape gives you just a little extra stability under your feet so you can ride away straight away.

Compared to the Whip SLS 2026, there are two changes you will really notice. The rails have become thinner, allowing them to engage more quickly when the wave gets steep and reducing the chance of slipping out in critical sections. Duotone has also redesigned the stringer configuration, with a Carbon T-Stringer now replacing the carbon stringer. This makes the directional board stiffer along its length and gives it a sportier feel, something you especially notice in its direct response at higher speeds. The 2026 remains an excellent board, but the 2027 feels sharper. The new colorway is an added bonus.

The rest of the SLS lay-up remains unchanged, and that is certainly no bad thing. The +/- 45° glass fiber provides controlled flex that feels smooth and predictable through turns. The full Innegra wrap reduces vibrations and makes the board more resistant to the impacts of strapless landings. Under your front foot, the Cork Shock Absorber 2.0 absorbs impacts in choppy water without filtering out your connection with the surfboard. Compared to the D/LAB, the SLS is slightly heavier and more forgiving, while also being considerably easier on your wallet.

The Whip is available in 4'11", 5'1" and 5'3", allowing you to match the board to your weight and your home spot.
