Ozone Edge VT 2026 Kite
Updated: The reliable & accessible Big Air kite from Ozone
The Ozone Edge has been a solid choice in the freeride and big air segment for 18 years. Known for its strong upwind performance, high speed, explosive lift, and long hangtime, the Ozone Edge VT 2026 Kite stays true to these characteristics. In this thirteenth version, Ozone has taken more inspiration from the Vortex kite, which is famous for its exceptional big air capabilities. By adopting techniques from that design, the Edge VT responds faster, feels more direct, and still retains its stability thanks to the five-strut frame.
The biggest change is a new planform with a more refined arc. This update makes the kite turn faster, provide more feedback, and respond with greater control. This makes kiteloops more predictable and helps the kite move more smoothly through the wind window. In addition, canopy tension in the trailing edge has been adjusted, resulting in tighter fabric. This reduces flutter and creates a cleaner canopy. The slimmer leading edge decreases drag and allows for more flex in the kite’s profile. A thinner leading edge also makes the kite far more maneuverable, which is especially ideal for downloops, heliloops, and kiteloops. Another key innovation is the new 16-point bridle system, inspired by the Vortex. Where earlier Edges distributed load across fewer points, this setup spreads forces more evenly. This keeps the kite stiff and stable, creating an effective mix of flexibility and rigidity. Combined with the pulleyless design, bar feedback remains direct, so you always know where the kite is positioned. The Edge VT also builds on innovations like transverse sail shaping and a pre-loaded leading edge from the Edge V12, which already improved profile stability and reduced canopy vibration.
In terms of materials, Ozone has chosen a size-specific airframe setup to ensure consistent performance across all kite sizes. The 6–9m kites feature Teijin Triple Ripstop Dacron for maximum strength. The 10–13m kites use a hybrid construction: a Triple Ripstop Dacron leading edge combined with 125g Performance Dacron struts for quicker response. The 15 and 18m kites are fully built from Performance Dacron, making them more efficient in light wind and easier to handle. The canopy on all sizes is Teijin Technoforce triple ripstop (55 g), which is durable and keeps the kite crisp over time. New in the range are 12m and 18m sizes, replacing the old 17 and 19m for a cleaner lineup.
The Ozone Edge VT 2026 Kite is made for beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders focused on big air and freeride. Thanks to the improved handling, it feels livelier and more accessible than previous versions, while maintaining the Edge’s trademark stability, speed, and hangtime. Higher jumps, easier loops, more response — this kite is your new big air partner!
