For buying your first kite you need to consider your individual conditions, like body weight and length, the amount of kites you want to buy, the wind conditions at the spot you will be riding the most and also previous experiences you already had during your kite lessons for example.

How many kites do I need to start kitesurfing?

Most kitesurfers use two to three kites in sizes spread out 2-3m so that they can cover most of the relevant wind range for them. However, you can also start kitesurfing using kite, collect experience and purchase more kites later. If you purchase one kite to start off, get the kite that is perfect for you and the average wind conditions at your home spot.

What are the ideal kite sizes for a kite beginner?

The ideal kite sizes depend on you and the conditions at your home spot. As you should not go kitesurfing in too strong winds as a beginner, you do not need to buy yourself a small storm kite right at the beginning. In lighter winds, larger kite sizes are necessary and these are the perfect training grounds for you to improve your kitesurf skills.

What are important features for a beginner friendly kites?

The four important features kite beginners should look our for are:

Which type of kite is ideal for kitesurf beginners?

If you type this question into Google, you will often find the answer that freeride kites are more suitable for beginners than wave or freestyle kites. However, some high-performance freeride kites provide so much power, that it can be quite overwhelming in the beginning and some kite schools mainly teach their students on wave kites... therefore, we have pre-selected beginner friendly kites for you based on our knowledge and experience.

What wind range can I cover with my beginner friendly kite?

The wind range you can cover depends on your type of kite, kite size, your weight, board size and skill level. 15-25 knots are ideal playgrounds for kite beginners. If you live at a spot with lighter or stronger winds, you need to adapt your kite gear accordingly.

Which kite is the best to learn how to jump for beginners?

If you want to learn how to jump, freeride and big air kites will support your progression the most! Big air kites have higher bar forces and a stronger pull, so they can be too powerful, especially for light weight riders. On the other hand, big air kites often have a very effective depower. If you are not sure whats best for you, simply contact us for advice!

Are C-Kites and Freestyle Kites suitable for beginners?

C-Kites and Freestyle Kites are not suitable for beginners. They often require a more advanced skill set to be kept under control.
