A seat harness is very suitable for beginners. When you start kiting, you keep the kite often at the zenith position. Because of the leg loops, a hip harness does not slip up or down but stays in place. A seat harness will also help you to get on the kiteboard faster when waterstarting, as the power of the kite is transmitted to a lower point on your body than with a waist harness. Also, the force of the kite is distributed over a larger area over your whole hips.

By a seat harness, the power of the kite gets distributed over the entire hip area, which reliefs your back.

The hook of a seat harness cannot move up due to the leg loops.

Can I jump with a seat harness?

With a seat harness you can jump in the same way as with a waist harness. However, jumping with a seat harness requires more body tension than jumping with a waist harness, as the power of the kite gets transmitted to a lower part of your body.

Are there seat harnesses that I can also wear as waist harnesses?

There are hybrid harnesses that can be worn both as a waist harness and as a seat harness, as you can detach the leg loops.

Is a seat harness better suitable for kids?

A seat harness is very suitable for children, as it can be adjusted to the body in several places. The leg loops provide additional support and prevent the harness from sliding up. In addition, a seat harness means that the bar is closer to the body, making it easier for small people with short arms to depower the bar.

Can I also wave kitesurf with a seat harness?

A seat harness is less suitable for wave kiting than a waist harness. A seat harness sits very firmly, so that the spreaderbar can move less to the left and right than with a waist harness. This can be uncomfortable when wave kiting, as you ride toeside much more often than when you are riding a twin tip. In general, when you wave kite, you have to use your body much more dynamically and a seat harness restricts you more than a waist harness.
