Ozone introduces their new high performance big air Aluula kite: the Ozone Vortex Ultra-X kite. With the new Vortex Ultra X kite, Ozone is now also entering the fiel of the Aluula kite segment. The Ozone Vortex Ultra X gives new school performance for the intermediate to pro kitesurfer who loves nothing but big air, kiteloops and even double loops!

Of course we all know the Ozone Edge for big air . In the Vortex you will feel the DNA of the Edge a bit, but the Vortex Ultra-X is really a different kite in many aspects. The Vortex Ultra X is lighter, faster and much more direct than the Ozone Edge. Where you have outplayed the Edge and want easier kite looping, more aggressive lift and want to steer with more precision and feedback, then the Ozone Ultra X is the kite for you.

The Ozone Vortex Ultra Aluula is up to 30% lighter, 7x stronger and 38% stiffer than standard Dacron material. The Ozone Vortex didn't came out of the blue. Ozone took more than two years to develop the Vortex. This is not only due to the constant fine-tuning of prototypes, but also because you can only really test a big air kite like this in 40+ knots, and those days are unfortunately not found every week. The result is certainly impressive, especially the high-end of the Vortex is incredible. With this kite you can confidently pull your kiteloops in 40 knots. But don’t underestimate the low-end of the Vortex. Thanks to the super light Ultra X Aluula design, the kite gives you a great performance in light winds. You can easily go one size smaller than you normally would with your standard dacron kite in light winds.

Unique to the Ozone Vortex Ultra X Aluula kite is its 16-point leading edge bridle construction. Ozone is the market leader in the paragliding world, they know what to do with bridles. This has been implemented in the Ozone Vortex Ultra X. The bridles are made of super strong and thin Technora material to ensure that the bridles have as little drag as possible. Because the bridles support the LE of the Ozone Vortex at 16 points, the kite feels extremely stable, despite the super thin LE. The advantage of a thin LE is that the kite flies faster and with less drag through the wind window, resulting in better performance in both low and high end and a very easy catch after kiteloops. To guarantee the most direct possible feeling with the kite, the Ozone Vortex uses a pully-less bridle system.

If we look a little more at the technical features of the Ozone Vortex Ultra This new seam in the canopy just above the LE gives the kite a smoother profile for more effectiveness of the canopy. The canopy itself is made of the well-known Teijin Trippel ripstop fabric. The trailing edge consists of a lightweight double layer of cloth. To prevent the kite from fluttering as much as possible, you will see small battens in the radiating edge. And if you would like to adjust the Vortex more to your own preference, this is possible through back-line trim options.
