The Ride Engine Prime Shell 2020 harness is designed to adapt the shape of your back. The fiberglass plate gives you super good support and a little bit of torsional flex. Now you can go kite surfing for longer and with more comfort.
Well supporting fiberglass hardshell harness from Ride Engine
For years, the hardshell harness from Ride Engine has been one of the most loved harnesses on the kitesurf market. It was Ride Engine who came on the market with a hardshell harness for the first time. Every year Ride Engine manages to update the Prime Shell a little bit for even more comfort and support.
Unique to the Ride Engine hardshell harness is the "lumbar-lock" shape of the fiberglass plate. This plate has a bulging in the back, giving the Ride Engine harness a perfect fit to your back. This keeps the Prime Shell good in place and the harness does not ride up quickly during kitesurfing. The advantage of the fiberglass plate in the Prime Shell 2020 is that it gives more flex than the carbon variant. The exterior of the Prime Shell has received a new Shell Skin technology which protects the fiberglass plate against UV, scratches and wear.
The Prime Shell 2020 has a nice thick padding of Fusion Foam with a neoprene lining around the edges. The neoprene lining ensures that the harness does not irritate the skin when you are that lucky guy who is able to kitesurf without a wetsuit. In order to offer your back extra comfort, the Prime Shell 2020 has a soft memory foam, which in the end almost creates a custom fit.
There are three options to attach your leash to the Prime shell 2020. If you use a short leash there is a D ring on the left and right to attach your leash. If you prefer freestyle, you can attach the leash to the handle pass attachment on the back of the Prime Shell 2020 trapeze.
The spreader bar is sold separately at the Ride Engine Prime shell harness. You can order this with a nice discount. The 2020 spreade bars have been updated with an anti-slip layer and are lighter in weight. The metal slider bar is the best choice for the wave rider. If you are more of a freerider or freestyle kitesurfer then you can best opt for the fixed hook.
